As we should not go hungry for the Blue Lagoon we had a snack at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

We were surprised how different the local offer was compared to Germany. I never saw Boxmaster in Germany before. But I did not wait for chicken wings either. They were so unpopular they had to prepare them fresh.

That was our hotel... In Keflavik as we had a very early flight. It was rated on TripAdvisor as the best establishment in town incl. an additional award in excellence. The hotel advertised on their website that it was new. Since our stay, I had a new definition of excellence and for new. New was only the name of the hotel...

Excellence means that nobody was at the front desk and the Chief-Bookkeeper tells you UNFRIENDLY to sit on the sofa and wait until someone should come somewhen and with his body language he tells you that you disturb him.

We waited for about ten minutes until some appeared who need to take off the clothes and make everything ready.

Eddie and Frances asked kindly if they could borrow some towels. The answer was NO. No more towels were available. But as you can see: even with our room, it was not complete.

Charme like in a hospital.

Der Charme einer Klinik.

When we claimed not just the missing towel but also floor mat for the shower the receptionist told us that she never saw something before in another hotel.

At least we had a nice view.

There was no hair dryer. But you can borrow one subject no other guest need it. With our request to keep it overnight we only occur a lack of understanding.

As there was no clothes line in the bathroom we had to dry our towels from the ship on the heating.

At least it was good that my tripod fit on the window bench.

Welcome to the Blue Lagoon. Was not easy to find with my GPS-device...

Lasst uns mal die Mitfahrer neidisch machen, die gestern hier waren...

Let's make our fellow-cruisers jealous who were here the day before.

We learned that it must be jam-packed that you could not see anymore the part "blue" of Blue Lagoon.

When we came now there were maybe 30 cars and 2 mini-buses on the parking.

Who felt it was too cold might be boiled where the steam came from.

With bathrobe and towel (with one only it was not enough...) it was approx. 61.00 USD (2012). We had our slippers with us. My borrowed towel was stolen while I changed my clothes (it was for a moment on a bench, and while I was turning around to lock my locker it was away). But they were kind to give me a new one.

In the water, there was a bar. The beverages were charged to your closet (no coin or token required/went to through an RFID key-system), and when you return your key before exit, you pay for them.

Eddie was the first in the water.

Then Bruno.

Dann Bruno.

Then Frances came. As Reykjavik was as far away from New York like from Frankfurt (but it is much farther from New York to Los Angeles), there were many Americans here around. That means that you also had many cabins to change and to take your shower...

Inside there was also a bar.

There was also an indoor pool. But it was used by the staff members to clear their liquids and to clean whatever inside. Bruno refused the use of this pool although he felt it was too cold outside.

At the access to the pool you could hang on your bathropes and towels.

You also had sauna and steam bath areas which you could see.

And everywhere you could get the "mod" to make yourself beautiful.

But it should stay 15-20 minutes on your face...

The best was to clear it under the waterfall.

When it became darker it became more mystic. The last admission was 20:00 hrs or 21:00 hrs in the summer months. You could stay 45 minutes longer than the last admission.

It counted also to the experiences you are doing once in your lifetime.

As we would have a very early flight the next morning, we did not stay until the last minute. But referring to the sky: maybe we might have a chance to see the Northern Lights. The atmosphere became more apparent and more transparent.

After we were warned that it might be overpriced to dine at the Blue Lagoon we saw Thai Keflavik.

After all the fish we were glad to get something like Satay with peanut sauce.

It was just wonderful to get something like fried rice.

Before we went to bed we saw a clear star-lighted night. One of the conditions to see Northern Lights.

But we only saw the light dome of Reykjavik. Even we checked multiple times the night: no Northern Lights around. How sad.

Schade.
